How to choose a sectional sofa

If you have decided to purchase a sectional sofa, before you choose one you should read this article so you won't get disappointed and won't spend too much time with preparing. After you read this, and found your desired product you can simply navigate to the merchant's site and order the sofa online. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me via e-mail or the site where you got directed.

Step 1: Measurement

First of all: take measurements. This is the most important thing since you will be moving around your living room a lot of the time so you want to allow easy traffic flow. Otherwise, a sofa might become burdensome. But don't worry, you can find detailed dimensions for each of the sofas on this site as well as on the merchant's site.

Today, sofa ranges are from six feet up to eight or nine feet in length. Sectionals are great in this area as well, because they can save a lot of space and make your living room look attractive and welcoming. So take a measure tape and measure down the space where you plan to set up your new sofa, add a little more at the top where cushions might take a bit more space.

This area of the living room will be where everyone will congregate. It's where you will spend most of your time. It makes sense that since you will spend so much time sitting on the sofa to get the best one you can.

Step 2: Order online

If you do decide to buy one of the sofas, well this is alredy given here, buy it from an online retailer. Altough brick and mortar stores have the advantage of being able to provide a tryout of their selection of sofas, because of taking up physical space in popular areas, costs rise and so does the prices of sofas.

You can save a lot more money if you order  online (this applies to almost anything). If you ordered it and got it delivered to your home, but found out that the product didn't match your expectations you can still send it back and either get your money back or spend the equal amount on something else.

Step 3: Cleaning

Cleaning of the sectional sofas is very easy. A basic wipe down with warm water is usually more than enough to clean up any mishaps on microfiber and leather sofas. If it needs a general reconditioning, leather conditioner is readily available (check if you get it as a bonus of ordering a sofa!).

There are several types of sofas concerning the pillows and backs of them. Tight back sofas are easy to clean since there are no pieces to straigthen. Loose pillow backs generally have the same number of back cushions as seat cushions and you can easily remove them for cleaning and fluffing.

Furthermore if you have pets in your house and you plan to letting them as well to rest on your sofa, you might wish to choose microfiber type or leather sofa because they are much easier to clean and also durable.

Step 4: Quality

Attached pillow backs give more fluff and softness, so if you like to sit back and relax then lots of cushions is the right pick for you. Hardwood frames are a must, particularly in a large piece that will bear a lot of weight.

Here as well applies the rule of pricing which says that the more you pay for a sofa the more comfortable it will be and the longer it will endure. But don't worry, even the bottom line ones will suffice more than a lifetime. The important thing is to find balance with your budget and there sould be no problems.

Step 5: Decors

The last point is how to choose a color that will best fit into your living room and how to make it even more stylish when you set it up. First of all, you need to know that to buy a white or black sofa is the easiest because then your rug, the wall and all the other furniture will probably compliment each other.

If you have a light room with orange - yellow wallpaper or painted wall for example, you can look for a darker color to give it a little bit of contrast but you can also take it away and buy a white one, so the room will be even more colorful.

After you set up your sofa there are a couple of tricks to make it look even better. Place an end table on one end of the sectional to hold a lamp, candles or other accessories. Place a throw over the back or arm of the sectional or over an ottoman. Use an ottoman or coffee table in front of the sofa. Decorate it with coffee table books, photo albums or a tray holding a teapot, wine glasses or a bowl of fruit (even faux fruit will work). Good Luck!
